PIT Crew

The Pirate Information Technology Crew, PIT Crew, is available to help students with basic Pirate Web, Pirate Mail and Blackboard issues. The PIT Crew is located in IPAC 205. Please email them at ithelp@piratemail.cv.edu.  In your email, please include your name, student ID, a phone number, and a description of the issue that you are having.

Pirate IT FAQ

  • How do I set up my CVCC e-mail (Pirate Mail) account?
  • Your Pirate Mail account is set up for you automatically on the first day of class if you have cleared the business office. All your tuition and fees must be paid before your account can be created.

  • Where can I access my CVCC e-mail (Pirate Mail) account?
  • There are links to Pirate Mail on the main CV website, one being at the very top of the page on the left. You may also access Pirate Mail by pointing your browser to https://portal.microsoft.com.

  • What is user id? What is my e-mail address?
  • Your CVCC user id for Student Pirate Web, Student Email, and Blackboard is your e-mail address. The passwords for Pirate Web and Email are the same. You can change your email password – that will then also be your new Pirate Web password.
  • Your e-mail address will be as follows:  first initial, last name, last four digits of the student id, @piratemail.cv.edu. Example: A person named John Doe with a student number of A01234567 would have a user id/email of jdoe4567@piratemail.cv.edu.

  • What is my e-mail password?
  • When you log in for the first time, your password will be, “!”, upper case “CVCC” + Date of Birth with a two-digit year. Example for a birth date of April 1, 2000 is !CVCC040100.

  • Can I access my e-mail on my phone or tablet?
  • Accessing your e-mail on an Apple or Android device is easy. We recommend you download the Outlook app. It is free in both the Apple store and in Android Play. Once you have it installed, open it and login using your CVCC e-mail address and password. That’s it! You will then be able to access your student e-mail on your device.

  • What is the Student Pirate Web?
  • Pirate Web is the CVCC student information and records system. It is accessible from the main CV website at the top left. This is where you register for classes, check your financial aid, accept your award, pay your tuition, check your degree plan and your semester grades.
  • The Pirate Web login is identical to the Student email login. If you changed your email password, that will also change your Pirate Web password.

  • What is my Pirate Web user id?
  • Your Pirate Web user id is your CVCC Student email.

  • What is my password for Pirate Web?
  • Your Pirate Web password is your Student email password. The passwords are linked. When you change the email password, the Pirate Web password also changes.

  • I’m taking an online class. Where do I go?
  • Online classes here at CVCC are taught on Blackboard. You may access Blackboard via a link on the main CVCC website in the top left. You may also access blackboard by pointing your browser to https://bb.cv.edu.

  • What is my Blackboard user id?
  • Your Blackboard user id is the same as your CVCC user id, which is your CVCC email. Your e-mail address will be as follows:  first initial, last name, last four digits of the student id, @piratemail.cv.edu.  Example: a person named John Doe with a student number of A01234567 would have a user id/email of jdoe4567@piratemail.cv.edu.

  • What is my Blackboard password?
  • Your default Blackboard password is your six-digit birth date in MMDDYY format. Example: for a birth date of August 4, 2001 – 080401

  • Where can I see my CVCC account information and grades?
  • To see your information pertaining to classes, financial aid, business office, grades, etc. you will use Pirate Web. Pirate Web is accessible from the main CV website at the top left. The Pirate Web login is identical to the Student email login. If you changed your email password, that will also change your Pirate Web password.

  • What if I still have trouble accessing these systems?
