PHENIX CITY, AL — Chattahoochee Valley Community College (CVCC) is hitting the road for the second time this summer with a “COVID COMEBACK” bus tour to encourage community members to enroll in CVCC in the fall, and the College is giving away scholarships along the way. On Friday, July 23, CVCC will make two stops to share information about the College.
“This bus tour is something that we have done for a couple of years, but this year is most important given the fact that people have not been able to get out and about in more than a year. Last year, the College adjusted and organized the event as a drive-thru tour on campus,” said Dean of Students and College Services Dr. Sherri Taylor. “Now, we are meeting people where they are as the world opens up again.”
Staff members will share information about programs of study, financial aid, and other resources during the bus tour, spending approximately two hours at each location. Potential students have the opportunity to apply on site as well as talk one-on-one with employees to get their questions answered. One of the highlights of the CVCC bus tour is that scholarships will be given away at each stop. The College gave away six scholarships on the tour held in June.
“Seeing the look on students’ faces or hearing the joy in their voices when they learn they will receive financial help in making their career dreams come true is priceless” said Taylor with excitement. “It’s extremely rewarding, and it reminds us of the importance these educational opportunities are to our communities, and how critical it is to lend a helping hand where and when we can at this time.”
Fall registration is set for August 18, 19, and 20, with classes beginning on August 23. For more information, visit cv.edu or call 334-291-4998.
The bus tour schedule on Friday, July 23, includes a stop at Drop Zone Mini Mart in Fort Mitchell, AL from 9:00 AM to11:00 AM and the Country Market in Salem, AL from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM.
