In this changing world, those who understand and can do mathematics will have significantly enhanced opportunities and options for shaping their futures. . . . All students should have the opportunity and the support necessary to learn significant mathematics with depth and understanding.

CVCC is committed to improving student learning and success in math. The mathematics faculty and the Math Tutoring Center (MTC) staff know that math can be a challenge but believe that, with the right mindset and sufficient effort, all students can learn math. The MTC is on the top floor of the library (Owen Hall). During the semester, CVCC students can receive FREE help with math in the MTC. There are twelve computers and several open tables for working on computer-based or paper-and-pencil assignments. Math tutors and instructors are available to help when you get stuck!
Besides drop-in tutoring, the MTC reaches out to students in several other ways. The Lunch and Learn Series consists of workshops targeting factors that impact student success in math. These are generally held about once a month and pizza is provided. On Board Math Prep is a free, individualized program, offered before the start of a semester, to help students gain the math skills and confidence necessary to succeed in their math classes. On Board begins around midterm of each semester and ends on the first day of the following semester. Math Reviews are held in the MTC near the end of the semester to help students prepare for final exams.
Visit the MTC early and often!
