Difference between Pirate Mail and Pirate Web.
Pirate Mail is CVCC’s student email system.
Pirate Web is where you go to do things such as register for classes, find your schedule, see your final grades, see financial aid information, pay your tuition, see and order transcripts etc…
Signing in to Pirate Web for the first time:
Once you are unconditionally admitted to the college (you have submitted all paperwork to admissions), your Pirate Web account will be automatically created. There is nothing for you to do in order to activate or create your account. Your email address is created with a specific pattern and your password is set to an initial default password.
Take for Example: CVCC has a student, John Doe and their student number or “A” number is A01712345. Let’s say Johns birthday is April 1, 2000.
John’s email address (which is the user ID for Pirate Web/Ellucian) and password will be created as follows:
email = first initial, full last name, last 4 digits of your student “A” number + @piratemail.cv.edu
In our example John’s email would be email@example.com This is what John would use for user ID when logging into Pirate Web.
password = Exclamation mark “!”, Upper Case “CVCC” + John’s 6 digit date of birth.
In our example John’s password would be !CVCC040100
** Important Note – We recommend that you change your password soon after logging in for the first time. Since passwords are standardized, if someone, somehow collects your information, they could potentially log into your account.

Resetting your Pirate Web Password
You may reset your Pirate Web password by going to Pirate Mail/Office 365 and doing a password reset. Once you have reset your password in Pirate Mail, after a 30 minute sync period, your password will change in Pirate Web.
The Pirate Information Technology Crew, PIT Crew, is available to help students with basic Pirate Web, Pirate Mail and BlackBoard issues. The PIT Crew is located in IPAC 205. You may drop by their office or email them at firstname.lastname@example.org. In your email, please include your name, student ID, a phone number, and a description of the issue that you are having. If you do not receive a response, send the same information to email@example.com.
