Practical Nursing – LPN

Effective Fall 2016, the LPN and ADN programs will be combined to create a single, unified Nursing Program. A practical nursing certificate will be awarded to the student who completes the first 3 semesters of the Nursing curriculum which consist of 45 credit hours, including 20 credit hours of general education and 25 credits of nursing core courses.  This qualifies the student to apply to take the National Council Licensure Examination:  NCLEX-PN exam. Following completion of the first 3 semesters, students seeking their Practical Nursing Certificate may opt to stop out of the Nursing Program or continue into their final two semesters, pursuing an Associate of Applied Science in Nursing.

The ADN application, available February-March, will be utilized for admission into the Nursing Program.  The Nursing Program will begin each fall semester. There will not be a separate application or application period for the LPN program.

Individuals interested in pursuing the Practical Nursing Certificate are encouraged to view the ADN section of the Health Sciences website, for more information.
