Pit Crew

The Pirate Information Technology Crew, PIT Crew, is available to help students with basic Pirate Web, Pirate Mail and BlackBoard issues. The PIT Crew is located in IPAC 205. You may drop by their office or email them at ithelp@piratemail.cv.edu.  In your email, please include your name, student ID, a phone number, and a description of the issue that you are having.


Pirate IT FAQ
  • How do I set up my CVCC e-mail (Pirate Mail) account?
    • Your Pirate Mail account is set up for you automatically on the first day of class if you have cleared the business office. All your tuition and fees must be paid before your account can be created.
  • Where can I access my CVCC e-mail (Pirate Mail) account?
    • There are links to Pirate Mail on the main CV website, one being at the very top of the page on the left. Otherwise you may also access Pirate Mail by pointing your browser to https://portal.microsoft.com.
  • What is my e-mail address and user id?
    • Your user id is your e-mail address. If you are a student your e-mail address will be as follows:  first initial, last name and last four digits of the student id @ piratemail.cv.edu.  For Example: A person named John Doe with a student number of 1234567 would have an email/user id of jdoe4567@piratemail.cv.edu.
  • What is my e-mail password?
    • Your password by default when your account is created is capital CV, The number or pound sign #, and your entire student number. For Example: If John Doe’s student number is 1234567 then their password by default will be CV#1234567.  We do encourage you to change this password upon logging in for the first time.
  • Can I access my e-mail on my phone or tablet?
    • Accessing your e-mail on an Apple or Android device is really easy. We recommend you download the Outlook app.  It is free In both the Apple store and in Android Play.  Once you have it installed, open it and login using your e-mail address and password. That’s it! You will then be able to access your e-mail on your device.
  • I’m taking an online class where do I go?
    • Online classes here at CVCC are taught on Blackboard. You may access blackboard via a link on the main CVCC website in the top left.  You may also access blackboard by pointing your browser to https://bb.cv.edu.
  • What is my Blackboard user id?
    • Your black board user id starts the same as your e-mail address but doesn’t include the @piratemail.cv.edu. For Example: A person named John Doe with a student number of 1234567 would have a user id of jdoe4567.
  • What is my Blackboard password?
    • Your password by default when your account is created is your entire student number. Nothing else. For Example: If John Doe’s student number is 12345467 then their password by default would be 1234567 for Blackboard.  We do encourage you to change this password upon logging in for the first time.
  • Where can I see my CVCC account information and grades?
    • To see your information pertaining to classes, financial aid, business office, grades, etc. you will use Pirate Web. Pirate Web is accessible from the main CV website at the top left.
  • What is my Pirate Web user id?
    • Your pirate web user id is your entire student number. Nothing else.  For Example:  If John Doe’s student number is 1234567 then his user id for Pirate Web would be 1234567.
  • What is my password for Pirate Web?
    • Your password by default when your account is made active is your date of birth with a two-digit year.  For Example: If John Doe’s birthdate is January 29th 1995 then his password (Sometimes called a PIN with Pirate Web) would be 012995.  We do encourage you to change this password upon logging in for the first time.
  • What if I still have trouble accessing these systems?
