Signing in to Pirate Mail for the first time:

Once you are unconditionally admitted to the college (you have submitted all paperwork to admissions), your Pirate Mail account will be automatically created in Office 365. There is nothing for you to do in order to activate or create your email. Your email address is created with a specific pattern and your password is set to an initial default password. The first time you login, you may have to agree to receive a text or email with a confirmation number. After you enter the confirmation number in Office 365 you can access your Pirate Mail account.

Take for Example: CVCC has a student named John Doe and their student number or “A” number is A01712345. Let’s say John’s birthday is April 1, 2000.

John’s email address and password will be created as follows:

email = first initial, full last name, last 4 digits of your student “A” number + @piratemail.cv.edu

In our example John’s email would be jdoe2345@piratemail.cv.edu

password = Exclamation mark “!”, Upper Case “CVCC” + John’s 6 digit date of birth.

In our example John’s password would be !CVCC040100

** Important Note – We recommend that you change your password soon after logging in for the first time.  Since passwords are standardized, if someone, somehow collected your information, they could potentially log into your account.

Below are some screen shots of what the login screen should look like.  On the second screen shot, you will notice a “Forgot my password” link below where you enter your password.  If you forget your password, you may reset it using this link.

Changing your email password will also reset your Pirate Web or Ellucian password after about 30 minutes.  The two passwords stay in sync.

The Pirate Information Technology Crew, PIT Crew, is available to help students with basic Pirate Web, Pirate Mail and BlackBoard issues. The PIT Crew is located in IPAC 205. You may drop by their office or email them at ithelp@piratemail.cv.edu.  In your email, please include your name, student ID, a phone number, and a description of the issue that you are having.  If you do not receive a response, send the same information to information.systems@cv.edu.
