CVCC Student Heroes Recognized

PHENIX CITY, AL— Two Chattahoochee Valley Community College (CVCC) students were recently selected as Piedmont Medical Center’s First Friday Heroes. Francisco Dominguez completed Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) and Advanced EMT at CVCC. McCartney Witsell completed EMT and is currently in the Advance EMT program. They are partners on an ambulance for EMS-Care. The duo played a major role in making sure a hospitalized patient who was scheduled to be transported to another facility for long-term care received the attention needed. Dominguez and Witsell voiced their concern that the patient didn’t “look right” at the time scheduled for transport. They were right, because the patient’s blood pressure dropped and he/she became unresponsive according to Piedmont Columbus Regional’s Facebook page. Because of these two Pirates, the patient received the care needed before being transported to another
facility! They are heroes indeed!
