Federal Pell Grant

A federal pell grant is money (gift aid) from the federal government for eligible students. Eligibility is indicated by the Student Aid Report (SAR) which the student receives after filing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid external link. The Pell Grant ranges in value from $400.00 to $3,125.00 per award year and must be used toward the cost of tuition, fees, living expenses, transportation, and personal expenses incurred while attending college.

Federal Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grant (FSEOG) - Money (gift aid) from the federal government for school attendance. All "exceptionally needy" Pell Grant recipients are considered for these limited funds upon receipt of the Student Aid Report (SAR). The FSEOG is usually $400.00 per award year at CVCC.

Federal Work Study Program (FWSP)

FWSP is a job program which gives part-time employment opportunities to students who show financial need. All students who submit the Student Aid Report (SAR) can be considered for these limited funds if they made the request at the time the SAR is processed by the Financial Aid Office. Work-study positions are awarded on a first come, first serve basis. Work hours are usually before or after classes each day and students earn minimum wage while working 5-15 hours each week. Job placement is based on job availability and job skills as well as the student's need and desire to work.
