Scholarships

Scholarships at Chattachoochee Valley Community College are provided for qualified outstanding students each year in the following areas: 

Presidential Scholarships

Presidential Scholarships include Academic, Ambassador and Leadership Scholarships.  They all require a completed Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) for the same year the scholarship is offered. Students who possess a grade average of 85% or better in all academic course work in high school are eligible to apply for Academic Scholarships awarded annually. Students who possess a grade average of 80% and have community/high school involvement are eligible to apply for Ambassador or Leadership scholarships awarded annually.

Performing Arts Scholarships

The College awards a number of scholarships in Music (vocal and instrumental) and Drama. Interested students should contact the respective person in the Fine Arts Division.

Athletic Scholarships

Athletic Scholarships are awarded on the basis of the recommendation of the coaches and the Athletic Director. Scholarships are awarded in men's baseball and basketball, women's fast pitch softball and basketball.

Senior Adult Program

The Alabama State Board of Education has approved the waiver of tuition for Alabama residents age 60 and over who wish to enroll in college credit courses. Contact Admissions Office for further information.

Veterans Benefits

To begin using your GI Bill benefits, determine which educational benefit option best suits you, submit your application online at www.gibill.va.gov through the VONAPP (Veterans ON-LINE Application), and give the school certifying official (in the Financial Aid Office) a copy of your “Certificate of Eligibility” that you received from the VA Regional Office.  Each semester the student is certified for enrollment then he/she will receive a notice via his/her student email account.

Tuition Assistance

For students who qualify for federal tuition assistance, the completed tuition assistance form must be submitted to the Business Office.

Alabama National Guard Education Assistance Program (ANGEAP)

Benefits of up to $1,000.00 per year are available for students in the Alabama National Guard. Applications must be obtained from the Unit Commander, completed by student then submitted to the Financial Aid Office.

Private Financial Aid Sources

Private student aid programs can offer important assistance. Eligibility criteria, application procedures, and the amounts awarded vary from program to program. For information, contact the lending institution directly and comply with their requirements.
