Cutting edge technology has benefits for those who are balancing careers and those who may need to hear or see lectures more than once to comprehend lessons. BlackBoard, Tegrity software and “Smart Classrooms” are among the major elements of CVCC’s future-minded approach to teaching and learning. BlackBoard serves as the platform for internet instruction. Students can log in, select their courses and access material ranging from classroom activity to homework assignments. Tegrity software lets instructors capture and share information and real-time class sessions for BlackBoard upload through multimedia applications, including streaming video and audio. CVCC’s “Smart Classrooms” are fully wired with camera, recorders, projectors and huge wall screens. In 2002, only 23 classes were fitted for BlackBoard. Today, more than 100 classes have online access. Don’t have internet access at home? Instructors can capture their sessions and burn them on to a CD. Review the CDs on a campus computer or your own personal computer. If you have a newer laptop, you can also enjoy CVCC’s wireless campus and freely access the internet on campus. |
