This is an exciting time for our region. Forecasters have predicted that growth at Fort Benning will bring more than 30,000 people to the Chattahoochee Valley. The number includes military personnel, contractors, spouses and children. In addition, as Fort Benning becomes the Maneuver Center of Excellence, military officials say more than 11,000 non-military jobs will be created to support Fort Benning. Aflac announced that it will hire 2000 people in the next five years. A new Kia plant under construction in West Point, GA is expected to hire 2800 people. These 16,000 new jobs represent 16,000 opportunities for residents of the Chattahoochee Valley with the proper skills. As a community college, CVCC is the engine that prepares and develops the workforce for our community. For nearly 35 years, we have been the Chattahoochee Valley's community college.
