Program Overview

Welcome to CVCC and the exciting world of information technology.  Whether you want to learn about developing apps for gadgets and smart phones or how to secure a network, CVCC is the place for you.  The Computer Information Technology Programs provide students with an opportunity to develop skills in a world of network security, cyber defense, app development, and other areas involving the use of technology. Students can earn industry certifications at the same time they earn their degrees.

We offer A.A.S. degrees for students who wish to enter the job market right after CVCC, as well as an A.S. Pre-Computer Science Option for students who plan to transfer to a university to earn a Bachelor’s degree.  In addition, we offer certificates that allow students to reach their career goals quickly.  Most of our courses are held in both an online and traditional classroom environment, which provides flexibility for the student.

A.S. Pre-Computer Science Option

The Pre-Computer Science Option is an Associate of Science degree designed for students who plan to transfer to a university to complete a four-year degree. As part of this degree, students will complete their general education courses. In addition, they will take CIS courses that will prepare them for a Bachelor of Science degree in CIS or related field. Check with your four-year institution for the transferability of courses in this program.

A.A.S. in Computer Information Technology: Cyber Defense Option

The Cyber Defense Option prepares students for industry-recognized certification by using materials and curriculum that have been designed for the CCNA program.

A.A.S. in Computer Information Technology: Information Technology Option

The Information Technology Option provides the necessary competencies for individuals to be employed as computer programmers within the information technology industry.

Industry Certifications

The certifications are embedded in courses and can be earned at the same time you earn your degree. Certification exams are administered at the CVCC Testing Center, a Pearson VUE authorized testing center.

    • Microsoft Office Specialist (MOS) in Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Access
    • CompTia A+, Network+, and Security+

CISCO Networking Academy

In addition to the above certifications, CCENT and CCNA certification exam are offered at CVCC as part of the area’s only CISCO Networking Academy. Exams are also administered at the CVCC Testing Center, a Pearson VUE authorized testing center.
