![]() CVCC nursing program receives NLNAC candidacy certificates for both RN and PN programs Chattahoochee Valley Community College has announced that both associate degree nursing (ADN) and practical nursing programs have received certificates confirming their candidate status with the National League for Nursing Accrediting Commission, Inc. (NLNAC). “We are excited to have candidate status for both of our programs. This is actually the first time the practical nursing program will be applying for initial accreditation,” says Resa Lord, Chair of the Health Sciences Division. “Our next step is to complete our self-study and we anticipate a site visit from NLNAC as early in 2012 as possible. That is the final step in achieving full NLNAC accreditation.” The NLNAC accreditation is an extra specialized accreditation that the College has sought. CVCC remains approved by both Southern Association of Colleges and Schools , Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC) and the Alabama Board of Nursing. Ms. Lord also states, “all of our graduates are eligible, and have always been eligible, to sit for the NCLEX.” The NCLEX is the National Council Licensure Examination, which is available in both RN and PN formats. Dean of Workforce Development, Janet Ormond, oversees the nursing program and comments, “Our nursing faculty and staff have worked hard to get to this point in the NLNAC accreditation process. They have achieved this milestone while continuing to serve our students and the community well.” CVCC’s new President, Dr. Glen Cannon, states “I am impressed with the dedication our nursing faculty and staff have demonstrated to date. Their pursuit of excellence is something to be commended. I have confidence this candidacy status will help the nursing program and the College attain full accreditation status. We have a group of nursing faculty who are forward-thinking and committed to the high standards of the health professions. CVCC has made substantial financial and resource commitments in both facilities and equipment to ensure we remain a leading edge nursing education institution. This achievement proves these resources are and continue to be a great return on investment.” |
